When you use a bicycle to ride to and from work, the time the sun rises and sets is a little more important than when you drive a car or walk. During a few months of the year, the sunrise and sunset times can overlap the workday. The shortest day of the year is right around December 21, so I always expect that to be the earliest sunset and latest sunrise. Well it ain't so. At Santa Rosa's latitude, the earliest sunset is actually on December 10th.
